Carrot Fern (Onychium Japonicum)

Carrot Fern (Scientific – Onychium japonicum | Sin - ඔනිචියම් ජැපෝනිකම්) is an attractive, clump-forming fern with wiry black stems bearing arching dark green, feathery fronds that resemble carrot foliage. It’s perfect for using as tall ground cover in semi shade, and looks great alongside other ferns. It provides the perfect foil for flowering plants, both in the border and the vase. 

An use of Onychium extract in preparing the modicines for preventing and curing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases is disclosed. Its advantages are high curative effect, high safety and high selectivity.

 

Care

Sun	Dappled shade, Partial shade (No direct exposure to sunlight)
Soil	Well drained / Sandy Soil which doesn’t become too wet in winter)
Water	Regularly during spring & summer  Reduced during winter (should not kept too wet)
Fertilizer	Fertilize the plant randomly with an organic or liquid fertilizer.
