Turmeric (Scientific -  Curcuma longa )Turmeric is native to the monsoon forests of south east Asia. It is a perennial herb to 1m tall with underground rhizomes. It produces tall, very beautiful, white flower spikes, if clumps are left undisturbed for a year. The flower is so attractive that it is worth growing for this alone.

 Full sun in the far North, partial sun elsewhere

 Soil 

 Rich, well-drained, and consistently moist 

 Water

 Water as needed.  keep the soil moist, but not soggy, and mist the leaves once or twice a day with water to keep the humidity up.

 Fertilizer

 Feed lot of nutrients, feed it every month. An all-purpose liquid fertilizer works best.
