Stem gives rise to spreading, erect (not drooping) branches even at a level just above the stem base. The leaves are thick and shiny, pointing upwards, about 3-10 cm long and 2-5 cm broad, oblong in shape with a tapering base and apex, a greenish white midrib and petiole, a vein of about 1 mm that runs along the edge of the leaf from the margin is clearly visible. Clusters of white flowers mostly occur at the terminal ends of the branches. The fruit is about 8 mm in diameter, globose, with a persistent calyx ring around the stalk, and turns dark purple when ripe.

Native tree. Fruit is edible, preferred by birds.

Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil.
Water
