Rain Flower (Scientific - Pancratium Zeylanicum | Sin - වල් ලූනු) also known as Sri Lankan Spider Lily is a pernnial herb plant which grows in India and on the islands of the Indian Ocean east to insular Southeast Asia. It has been collected from India, Sri Lanka, the Maldive Islands, is known commonly as "rain flower". It is sometimes grown as a hothouse container plant, It propagates by producing offsets and seed. The pollinator is a moth with a very long proboscis. Flowers are white with narrow tepals and long teeth along the margin of the staminal corona.

 

spherical bulb flower reaching a diameter of up to 5 cm. The leaves grow out of the ground in a rosette,large in number approximately 6 – 12 which are lance shaped or strap-shaped, approximately up to 30 cm long and about 2 cm wide, hairless, dark green. The fruit is a capsule.
